When I am out in the field, the natural world, exploring with a camera, I am in my happy place. There is nowhere else I’d rather be. I love just being out there, but having a camera also helps me to focus and be present. I often choose to keep the most profound, personal and visually moving experiences solely on the emulsion sheet of my memory rather than the digital archive of my camera. Sometimes I simply look without making photos. I can’t always explain why that is, except perhaps I am afraid my skills as an artist will not do justice to the full experience. I can tell you that as an artist, I do love making and sharing art and imagery of all types. Nature and the world inspire me – to write and paint and draw and dream and be.

As much as I love, being in the outdoors exploring and making images there, I am also a creative with strong roots in design. Architecture can do amazing things with light and line that really appeals to my aesthetic sense and training in design disciplines. As a photographer, it presents very different challenges, especially with lighting both interior and exterior spaces in the evening hours. Done well, these kinds of photographs can make a home seem ultra warm and inviting. They become an important part of Realtor’s marketing effort to connect buyers and sellers in the best possible manner.

I am an unabashed adrenaline and adventure junkie. That being the case, I find myself constantly in places where I can capture wonderful images of people engaged in all sorts of fun recreational and sporting activities. I have been fortunate to have participated in various sports around the globe. In fact, have been rock climbing at virtually all significant crags across North America, as well as abroad in locations such as Thailand, France and South America.
